Please read all the information below and ensure your Young Man has also read and understood the code of conduct.

 

Arrival and Check in:


Arrival Wednesday, June 26th - 2-5 PM

Departure Saturday June 29th - 12-1 PM
Location -  Camp Alpine, 441 Rte 9W, Alpine, NJ 07620
 

Activities:

Wednesday: Team Activities and Games

Thursday: Paintball @ Paintball Sports  

Friday: Lake Day (including Swimming BBQ and Competitions), Fireside and Devotional in the evening

Saturday: Indoor / Outdoor Climbing / Hike @ Camp Alpine

There will also be various devotionals & workshops designed to assist the young men in making and keeping spiritual, mental, social, and physical goals.

 

State Requirements for Vaccination:

IMPORTANT:


The State of NJ requires vaccination records for all youth attending camps in the state – Please forward vaccination records for your youth to Nathan Powel: powell.nathan@gmail.com If you don’t have these records or have opted out of vaccination please send this information to Nathan and he will add it to your youth’s records for camp.

List of Things to Bring:

  • Good attitude, energy, and desire for growth

  • Sleeping bag

  • Pillow, if desired

  • Change of clothes for three days

  • Thick clothing and gloves for paintball (paint is washable)

  • Swim suit

  • Towel

  • Soap, shampoo, washcloth (Camp Alpine does have showers available)

  • Hiking boots, shoes you don’t mind soiling

  • Bug spray

  • Sunscreen

  • Sunglasses

  • Wide brimmed Hat

  • First Aid Kit

  • Personal hygiene items (deodorant, toothbrush, floss, retainer, etc.)

  • Prescribed medications

  • Flashlight

  • Phone charging will not be available, so youth are encouraged to switch their phones off to preserve battery life for much of the day.

 

Code of Conduct

The Soldier Hill Stake Young Men's Camp aims to provide a safe, respectful, and spiritually enriching environment for all participants. To achieve this, all campers are expected to adhere to the standards of behavior outlined in the Church Handbook of Instructions and comply with the New Jersey Administrative Code (NJAC) 8:25 regulations.

 

All campers are expected to:

  1. Show respect for all participants, leaders, and camp staff.

  2. Follow all camp rules and instructions given by leaders and camp staff.

  3. Participate in all scheduled activities and maintain a positive attitude.

  4. Abstain from using inappropriate language, engaging in bullying, or any form of harassment.

  5. Avoid any behavior that could endanger themselves or others.

  6. Respect the property of others and the camp facilities.

  7. Leaving camp or camp event locations without permission

 

Severe Misbehavior and Consequences

 

Severe misbehavior includes, but is not limited to, the following actions:

  1. Possession or use of illegal substances, alcohol, or tobacco.

  2. Possession of weapons or any dangerous objects.

  3. Engaging in violent or aggressive behavior, including fighting.

  4. Theft or vandalism.

  5. Sexual misconduct or inappropriate physical contact.

  6. Consistent defiance of camp rules or refusal to follow instructions from leaders and camp staff.

 

Procedures for Addressing Misbehavior

  1. Initial Intervention: Leaders will address minor infractions with a verbal warning and guidance on appropriate behavior.

  2. Documentation: Leaders will document any incidents of severe misbehavior, noting the details and those involved.

  3. Immediate Action: For severe misbehavior, leaders will take immediate action to ensure the safety and well-being of all campers. This may include temporarily removing the camper from activities.

  4. Parent/Guardian Notification: If a camper's behavior is deemed severe enough to warrant removal from camp, the parents or guardians will be contacted immediately.

  5. Ejection from Camp: The camper will be sent home, and the parents or guardians will be responsible for arranging transportation. Leaders will provide a written report of the incident to the parents or guardians and the Stake Presidency.
     

Compliance with NJAC 8:25

In accordance with NJAC 8:25 regulations, the following protocols will be followed:

  1. All incidents of severe misbehavior and resulting actions will be documented and kept on record.

  2. Parents or guardians will be informed of any incident involving their child and the actions taken by camp leaders.

  3. The camp will ensure that all staff are trained in handling disciplinary issues and are aware of the protocols outlined in this policy.

  4. The camp will comply with all state regulations regarding the safety and well-being of campers.
     

Conclusion

  • La carga del teléfono no estará disponible, por lo que se recomienda a los jóvenes que apaguen sus teléfonos para preservar la batería durante gran parte del día.
     

Código de conducta

El Campamento de Jóvenes de Soldier Hill Stake tiene como objetivo proporcionar un ambiente seguro, respetuoso y espiritualmente enriquecedor para todos los participantes. Para lograr esto, se espera que todos los campistas cumplan con los estándares de comportamiento descritos en el Manual de Instrucciones de la Iglesia y cumplan con el Código Administrativo de Nueva Jersey (NJAC) 8:25.

Se espera que todos los campistas:

  • Muestren respeto por todos los participantes, líderes y el personal del campamento.

  • Sigan todas las reglas del campamento y las instrucciones dadas por los líderes y el personal del campamento.

  • Participen en todas las actividades programadas y mantengan una actitud positiva.

  • Se abstengan de usar lenguaje inapropiado, participar en acoso o cualquier forma de intimidación.

  • Eviten cualquier comportamiento que pueda poner en peligro a sí mismos o a otros.

  • Respeten la propiedad de los demás y las instalaciones del campamento.

  • No abandonen el campamento o los lugares de eventos del campamento sin permiso.
     

Mal comportamiento grave y consecuencias

 

El mal comportamiento grave incluye, pero no se limita a, las siguientes acciones:

  • Posesión o uso de sustancias ilegales, alcohol o tabaco.

  • Posesión de armas u objetos peligrosos.

  • Participación en comportamiento violento o agresivo, incluyendo peleas.

  • Robo o vandalismo.

  • Conducta sexual inapropiada o contacto físico inapropiado.

  • Desobediencia constante de las reglas del campamento o negativa a seguir instrucciones de los líderes y el personal del campamento.
     

Procedimientos para abordar el mal comportamiento

  • Intervención inicial: Los líderes abordarán las infracciones menores con una advertencia verbal y orientación sobre el comportamiento adecuado.

  • Documentación: Los líderes documentarán cualquier incidente de mal comportamiento grave, anotando los detalles y los involucrados.

  • Acción inmediata: Para el mal comportamiento grave, los líderes tomarán medidas inmediatas para garantizar la seguridad y el bienestar de todos los campistas. Esto puede incluir la eliminación temporal del campista de las actividades.

  • Notificación a los padres/tutores: Si el comportamiento de un campista se considera lo suficientemente grave como para justificar la eliminación del campamento, los padres o tutores serán contactados de inmediato.

  • Expulsión del campamento: El campista será enviado a casa, y los padres o tutores serán responsables de organizar el transporte. Los líderes proporcionarán un informe escrito del incidente a los padres o tutores y a la Presidencia de Estaca.
     

Cumplimiento con NJAC 8:25

De acuerdo con las regulaciones NJAC 8:25, se seguirán los siguientes protocolos:

  • Todos los incidentes de mal comportamiento grave y las acciones resultantes serán documentados y guardados en archivo.

  • Se informará a los padres o tutores de cualquier incidente que involucre a su hijo y las acciones tomadas por los líderes del campamento.

  • El campamento se asegurará de que todo el personal esté capacitado para manejar problemas disciplinarios y conozca los protocolos descritos en esta política.

  • El campamento cumplirá con todas las regulaciones estatales relacionadas con la seguridad y el bienestar de los campistas.
